History, philosophy and mission
El Castillo Mágico was founded in 2019 as the first bilingual early childhood education centre. It is based on an educational project focused on the arts. Music and the singing voice are used as a universal, non-verbal language.
This approach offers an alternative to conventional schools for children aged 0 to 3. It also serves families who are looking for a second home, where children are nurtured in a creative, respectful, and friendly environment.
Over time, the school has expanded. It now includes students aged 3 to 6, and more recently, students aged 6 to 16 through its international school project, Sevilla Reggio Emilia School.
El Castillo Mágico is a truly exceptional school. It is difficult to find another centre that is as well-liked. That is why its thinkers, families, and children have grown together.
El Castillo Mágico’s educational approach is based on the metaphor of the “hundred languages of the child.” This concept comes from the Reggio Emilia pedagogy. It helps children discover their talents in many different ways.
By offering various methods of communicating the same idea, each child can develop at their own pace. They find what truly motivates them to learn, do, and live.
These methods include the languages of clay, drawing, painting, music, sculpture, nature, the body, Spanish, English, and mathematics.
Awe, curiosity, learning, and communication are central to the school’s philosophy. This approach is supported by artist-educators at all of its centres.
One aspect that defines this school is the teaching method of listening. This approach involves being attentive and sensitive in understanding upbringing. It also encourages fluid communication between families, the school, culture, and the city.
Listening means connecting deeply with what is happening inside oneself, with others, and in the environment. This connection happens through the senses. In this way, children are observed and guided in their processes. They are provided with an environment of supervised freedom where spontaneous moments, full of pedagogical value, are recognized and nurtured.
To make this possible, the school takes its time. It gives enough space for each experience and each process to unfold. Just like when we listen to ourselves, we ask: How do I feel? What do I need? How can I overcome obstacles?
From this connection with our emotional reality, we can listen to others. We ask: How do they feel? What do they need? How can I help them overcome adversity?
This method is a pedagogy that serves life. It focuses on the reality of the present moment—its light, its shadows, and the fullness of what it brings.
Another important aspect of the school is its commitment and responsibility. These values help children develop tools for living a healthy and fulfilling life. They include respect, empathy, autonomy, tolerance, trust, responsibility, effort, communication, and resolution.
Childhood requires trust that the world is good in order to live fully and harmoniously. Beauty attracts beauty, and this contributes to a kinder, more sensitive society.
